Restoring Classic Movies to High Definition

Hollywood has been around for a long time, and HD television hasn’t. What does this mean? Well, it means that many of the all-time classic movies that have ruled supreme don’t come close to the quality you would expect from today's movies and HDTVs.

Slowly but surely the movie studios have been restoring these old movies and transferring them to high definition and in their original aspect ratios. Now that Turner Classic Movies is available in high definition, you are able to watch these classics as they were meant to be seen.

But not every great movie has been restored. And for some, it may not happen for a long time. Restoring these old time movies is a costly endeavor and the demand for them isn’t always there. So instead of complaining about the poor quality of the past, I rather let go of expectations and enjoy these classics for the work of arts they are, rather than noticing the imperfection that comes from age. The story, the acting, directing, and old time effects may just be better left alone.
